1ºESO. Why preseve useless species+extra material

Some arguments to protect useless species:

- Moral and ethical concerns

  

- When our current state of knowledge expands we can find uses to species that did not previously have any

  

- Contribution to valued ecosystem services New York City: cheaper buy and manage key parts of its watershed than run water treatment plants

  

- Even if doesn’t perform a key role in the ecosystem today, it could be important in the future as systems fluctuate

   

- Source of unusual genes that should be preserve for future needs

    

- We often do not understand the functions of the species from an ecological or evolutionary point of view
